2022 Yamaha R7 Specs, Features, Images Revealed

2022 Yamaha YZF-R7, the all-new middleweight faired sports motorcycle from the Japanese bikemaker, has finally been revealed via official pictures. The new model comes as a replacement to the YZF-R6 and it will be positioned between the R3 and R1 in the company’s global product lineup. The 2022 Yamaha R7 will be first launched in the European market, followed by the United States. As of now, the company has no plan to bring in the new YZF-R7 in India. At the heart of the new 2022 Yamaha R7 is a 689cc, liquid-cooled inline twin engine sourced from the MT-07. Though, it has new EUC (engine control unit) along with the forged aluminum pistons with direct-plated cylinders integrated with the crankcase. The motor returns a claimed power of 73.4bhp at 8,750rpm and 67Nm at 6,500rpm. The bike comes with a 6-speed gearbox with slip and assist function. It also gets an optional quickshifter.

The company says that the new Yamaha YZF-R7 has an optimized secondary gear ratio that enhances its sporty feel. It sits on a lightweight, high-strength steel frame and comes equipped with the new, fully adjustable 41mm KYB USD fork and a line-type monoshock rear suspension setup. The new R7 sits on 5mm shorter wheelbase and has a sharper steering angle than the MT-07 that add more to its overall performance. The bikemaker equipped with the new Yamaha R7 with an aluminum centre brace near the swingarm, thus enhancing its torsional rigidity.

Braking power comes from the twin 298mm front disc brake with radially mounted calipers along with the a Brembo master cylinder. Buyers will have two colour options to choose from, namely, Team Yamaha Blue and Raven Black.

Design of the 2022 Yamaha RZF-R7 has been inspired by YZR-M1 MotoGP machine. The front twin LED projector headlamps with LED DRLs gives it an aggressive look. Its windscreen is relatively wider and taller than the R6.

Some of its design highlights include ‘R7’ badges on the side fairing, fairing mounted mirrors, central ram air-intake, sculpted fuel tank, clip-on handlebars, split seat, rear set footpegs, a tapered rear section, LED taillamps, newly-designed exhaust system and a new LCD display.
