Volkswagen Taigun Bookings Open At Dealership Level – Report

Select Volkswagen dealers are reported to accept bookings for the upcoming Taigun mid-size SUV at an initial sum of Rs 10,000. The model is slated to launch during this Diwali season. The carmaker says that the new Volkswagen Taigun will be the “safest, strongly built SUV” in its segment. It will be based on the India-specific MQB A0 IN platform and might be packed with advanced driver assistance features (ADAS).

The new Volkswagen SUV will come with a new Play infotainment system that’s co-developed by Volkswagen Brazil and Visteon. It has a 10.1-inch touchscreen display working as a rear view camera as well. The Taigun’s infotainment unit will support both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It will have built-in apps with multiple personalization options. The unit could also come with in-car Wi-Fi and live music and audio podcast streaming via SIM-based internet access.

Volkswagen Taigun feature list

The carmaker has confirmed that the Volkswagen Taigun will have wireless charging, connected car features, electric sunroof, ventilated seats, leather upholstery, automatic climate control with touch-sensitive buttons, ambient lighting and a multi-function flat bottom steering wheel wrapped in leather. Dimensionally, the VW Taigun will be longer than its arch rivals – Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. Its top-end GT variant will have ‘GT’ badges on the front grille and at the rear end. Some of its key design elements will include the signature grille with chrome strips, LED headlamps with LED DRLs, halogen fog lamp, prominent bumper with a faux skid plate, 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, chrome garnish with a rear skid plate and LED taillamps.

Volkswagen Taigun Interior

Similar to the upcoming Skoda Kushaq, the Volkswagen Taigun will be offered with the 1.0L TSI petrol and 1.5L TSI petrol engine options. While the smaller capacity motor makes power worth 114bhp, the latter one delivers 147bhp with 250Nm. There will be three gearboxes on offer – a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed automatic (for 1.0L petrol only) and a 7-speed DSG automatic (for 1.5L petrol only).
