Skoda Kushaq Prices Start at Rs 10.49 Lakh – Creta Fighter

Skoda Kushaq, the mid-size SUV from the Czech automaker, has finally been launched in India. The model lineup is being offered in three trim levels – Active, Ambition and Style – and two turbocharged petrol engines. Its prices start from Rs 10.49 lakh for the entry-level variant and go all the way up to Rs 17.59 lakh (all, ex-showroom). Deliveries of the Kushaq 1.0L TSI turbo petrol will begin from 12th July and the 1.5L TSI turbo petrol variants will be available in the month of August.

Skoda Kushaq Engine Specs

The smaller capacity 1.0L gasoline motor has been tuned for generating power worth 115bhp and 178Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The more powerful 1.5L turbo petrol engine makes a top power of 150bhp and 250Nm of torque. Skoda Kushaq Variants

The entry-level Active trim is exclusively offered with a 1.0L TSI turbo petrol engine paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The mid-level Ambition trim is available with 1.0L gasoline motor and 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox options. The top-end Style trim comes with four engine and gearbox combinations including 1.0L TSI with 6-speed MT, 1.0L TSI with 6-speed AT, 1.5L TSI with 6-speed MT and 1.5L TSI with 7-speed DSG. Braking duties on the SUV are performed by front disc and rear drum brakes, which are further assisted by ABS.

The new Kushaq is one of the most feature-loaded SUVs in its segment. It has a free-standing 10-inch touchscreen with VW Group’s new ‘Play’ infotainment system. The unit supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity and has in-built apps, connected car technology, a ‘Valet’ mode and in-car Wi-Fi. Its layered dashboard has knurled plastic panel running across its width. There is a thin chrome strip connecting the chrome-lined vents. The Kushaq features the brand’s new two-spoke steering wheel with mounted control buttons.

The list of features also includes 6 speakers and a 50W subwoofer, a USB Type-C ports, an electric sunroof, a cooled glovebox, ambient cabin lighting and many more goodies. All variants of the new Skoda SUV come with the electronic stability control (ESC), which is first-in-segment. For the safety provision, the Kushaq offers a multi collision braking system, Isofix child mounts, auto headlamps and wipers and a rear parking camera. Features such as tyre pressure monitoring system and hold control are optional.

The Kushaq is Skoda’s first production model to be designed on the VW Group’s India-specific MQB AO IN platform. The final model shares strong resemblance to the Vision IN concept. The front fascia looks quite aggressive, thanks to its signature grille with chrome surround and dual headlamp setup with LED DRLa. The bumper has lots of creases and the faux air intake is situated below the fog lamps. The faux skid plate has three slats at the bottom1. The dual-tone, 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and roof rails are reserved for the higher trims. Its other key design bits include body cladding around the wheels and on the lower sections of the door and wraparound LED taillamps which are connected via a thin strip.

Dimensions

The overall length, width and height of the Kushaq stand at 4225mm, 1760mm and 1612mm respectively. Compared to the Creta and Seltos, the new Skoda SUV is smaller. Though, it has the segment’s longest wheelbase measuring 2651mm. The model comes with a ground clearance of 188mm. It promises a boot space of 385-litres that can be increased by up to 1450-litres by folding rear seat.

Colours

Skoda’s new SUV comes in a choice of 5 paint schemes, namely, Brilliant Silver, Carbon Steel, Honey Orange, Tornedo Red and Candy White.
