Volkswagen T-Roc First Batch Sold Out in India; Bookings Closed

If you had your heart set on a Volkswagen T-Roc SUV, there’s a bad news. The German carmaker has confirmed that all 1,000 units for India have been spoken for and it has closed bookings for the car. Launched in March 2020, the T-Roc compact SUV comes in a single, fully-loaded variant priced at Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Just so you know, the SUV is being imported as a CBU (Completely Built Unit) under the government’s new rule that allows car manufacturers to import 2,500 units without any local homologation procedure. Volkswagen initially had brought 1,000 units.

Interior of the VW T-Roc comes packed with lots of goodies including an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, dual-zone automatic climate control, a digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof and ‘Vienna’ leather seats. The standard safety kit of the SUV includes six airbags, electronic stability control, ABS with EBD, a tyre pressure monitoring system, rear parking sensors and camera.

Under the hood, the VW T-Roc houses a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, turbo TSI petrol engine paired to a 7-speed DSG gearbox. The motor produces a peak power of 150bhp against 250Nm.

Talking about Volkswagen’s future plan, the company will introduce the VW Taigun compact SUV to challenge the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in India. It will be the brand’s first India-specific MQB A0 IN platform based production vehicle. Some of its key features will include LED lights, angular bonnet, lots of chrome on grille and bumpers, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a full digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, a sunroof, electronic stability control, traction control and more.
