2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Facelift Unveiled: Top Changes Explained

The long-awaited 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift has finally been unveiled. The brand’s most successful model with more than 9.10 lakh units sold since its inception. The new Tiguan facelift will receive revised exterior and interior styling along with driver-assistance and comfort features.

The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift comes with completely re-designed new front fascia. It features new front grille, which flows into the standard LED headlamps. The front seems inspired by the European Touareg and the Atlas Cross Sport. It also gets new front bumper and new VW badge placed centrally at the front.

At the back, the “Tiguan” lettering is placed below the VW badge. The “4Motion” lettering for the all-wheel drive models has also been redesigned. The mid-level variants get an updated hands-free Easy Open and Close for the power liftgate.

Inside the cabin, the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift gets new multi-functional steering wheel. There is a touch module for the Climatronic automatic climate control functions on midrange models. It gets illuminated touch sliders for fan and temperature control. The touch buttons can also be used to operate functions like new heated front seats, rear window defrost and to open the AC menu. Illuminated USB-C ports are located under the air-conditioning module.

The 2021 VW Tiguan facelift also receives the new modular infotainment system (MIB3), which offers natural voice control, multi-phone pairing and wireless app-connect. It features Volkswagen Digital Cockpit, which allows the driver to configure the instrument display An 8-inch display comes standard, and top trim models will receive a 10.25-inch display. The SUV gets 15-color ambient lighting system and new decors. It continues to offer the 480-watt Fender Premium Audio System as standard on top trims.

The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan for the United States gets an advanced version of the EA888 four-cylinder TSI engine. This turbocharged direct-injection is capable of producing 184bbp at 4,400rpm and 300Nm of torque between 1,600 to 4,360rpm. All Tiguan models are equipped with standard eight-speed automatic gearbox, and Start/Stop system. The European market will receive new Volkswagen Tiguan R variant, which offers TSI engine producing 320PS.

This system can take over steering, braking and acceleration of the new Tiguan at speeds of between 0kmph to 130kmph. However, driver remains responsible for control of the SUV at all times. This system uses functions including Adaptive Cruise Control and the Lane Assist lane keeping system. The top-spec models will receive adaptive cruise control.
