Upcoming Tata, Mahindra SUVs In Early 2023 – Key Details

The home-grown automakers, Tata Motors and Mahindra & Mahindra are all set to roll out their new offerings in early 2023. Mahindra has already confirmed that it will begin taking pre-bookings for the XUV400 electric SUV in the first week of January and its launch will take place towards the end of the month. Tata, on the other hand, is likely to introduce the updated version of the Harrier and Safari SUVs. Here’s a brief on the upcoming Tata and Mahindra SUVs.

2023 Tata Harrier Facelift

The 2023 Tata Harrier facelift, which is currently in its testing phase, is likely to come with noticeable design changes, more features and a petrol powertrain. With the mid-life update, the SUV is reported to receive ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) suite. It could also be equipped with a 360 degree camera, ventilated seats, air purifier and a larger and updated infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity. The new Harrier might also come with a 150bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol engine along with the existing 170bhp, 2.0L Kryotec diesel motor. More details here…

The company has also been testing the updated Tata Safari SUV for a while. Similar to the new Harrier, it could be made available with the brand’s new 1.5L turbo petrol engine that’s essentially the more powerful version of the Nexon’s 1.2L gasoline unit. Rumour has it that Tata is working on a new 2.2L diesel engine boosted with LNT, NOx and DPF. It could be introduced as a replacement of the Safari’s existing 1.5L diesel motor. The spy images reveal that the 2023 Tata Safari might come with the ADAS suite and a 360 degree camera. Mahindra XUV400 EV

Mahindra XUV400 will be the brand’s first-ever pure electric SUV that will be launched across 16 cities in the first phase. The carmaker has confirmed that its powertrain setup includes a 39.5kWh battery pack meeting IP67 standards. It uses Li-ion cells and delivers a combined power of 148bhp and 310Nm of torque. The XUV400 is claimed to offer a range of 456km on a full charge. The electric SUV is capable to do 0-100kmph in 8.6 seconds, while maintaining a top speed of 150kmph. The company will offer three charging options – a 50kW DC fast charger, a 7.2kW/32A outlet and a 3.3kW/16A standard socket. More details here…
