It seems that Tata Motors has begun testing the updated Safari SUV. Recently, a test mule of the model was caught on camera with heavy camouflage covering most of its design details. While there is no official word on its launch timeline, a fresh report claims that it might hit roads during 2022 Diwali season or towards the end of this fiscal year. The SUV is likely to witness a few cosmetic updates along with a bunch of new features.
Under the hood, the new 2022 Tata Safari facelift will continue to feature the same 2.0L Kryotec diesel engine making 167bhp and 350Nm. With this update, the automaker might introduce a petrol engine on the SUV model lineup. Speculations are on rife that the new Safari might get a new 1.5L turbocharged petrol engine that’s essentially the more powerful version of the Nexon’s 1.2L gasoline unit. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.
Official details of new Safari are still under the wraps. Though, it’s likely to be packed with some advanced features such as a 360 degree camera and ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). It will continue to offer a 9-speaker JBL audio system, leatherette upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, a semi-digital 7.0-inch TFT display, hill decent control, 6-way electric adjustable driver seat, electronic parking brake with auto hold and terrain response modes.
On the exterior, the new 2022 Tata Safari facelift will get an updated grille with silver finish holes and more circular headlamps with sharper LED DRLs. The updated SUV model lineup might receive new colour options. Currently, it comes in 8 paint schemes – White Gold, Orcus White, Royale Blue, Daytona Grey, Black Gold, Oberon Black, Tropical Mist and Grassland Beige.
