New Honda 100cc Bike Coming In 2023 – High Mileage, Affordable

With an aim to challenge Hero Splendor, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) is planning to bring in a new 100cc commuter motorcycle. Speaking to an online media publication, Atsushi Ogata, President, CEO and Managing Director of HMSI has revealed that the next launch from the company will be 100cc bike. The new Honda 100cc bike will be high on fuel efficiency and come with an affordable price tag.

While details of the model are still under the wraps, it’s expected to feature a smaller capacity engine. The new Honda 100cc bike could the first offering from the Japanese two-wheeler maker in 2023. It’s likely to hit roads in early 2023. Official launch timeline of the upcoming commuter motorcycle is yet to be revealed.

Currently, HMSI sells two 110cc bikes – Honda CD110 Dream DLX and Honda Livo. Both models derive power from a 109.51cc, single-cylinder engine that pushes out a peak power of 8.7bhp at 7,500rpm and 9.3Nm of torque at 5,500rpm.  

Atsushi Ogata has also revealed that the company is working on an electric moped that will arrive after the new Honda 100cc bike. It will be capable to deliver a top speed of 50kmph. Prices of the vehicle will competitive to target the wider audience. Recently, the company has revealed its electric vehicle (EV) plan that includes two electric commuters for the Asian, Japanese and European markets. Both EVs will witness market launch between 2024 and 2025.

While there is no official word on the new Honda EV scooters’ India launch, rumour has it that it might bring in the Activa-based EV. The model will use a swappable battery. The Japanese two-wheeler maker plans to introduce its first flex-fuel vehicle (E20 – 20% ethanol) sometime next year. It will roll out its E100 (with 100% ethanol) bike/scooter in 2025.
