Mahindra XUV400 EV – Range, Battery, Launch & Booking Details

Mahindra & Mahindra today unveiled its first all-electric SUV in India – the Mahindra XUV400. The carmaker has confirmed that the bookings for the model will begin in the first week of January 2023, followed by its launch by the end of the month.

The test drives will begin from December 2022 across 16 cities, namely, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Goa, Jaipur, Surat, Nagpur, Trivandrum, Nashik, Chandigarh, Kochi). It will be launched across 16 cities in the first phase. It’s essentially the electric version of the XUV300 with slightly different styling, more features and cabin space and most importantly the electric powertrain.

The new Mahindra electric SUV comes with a 39.5kWh battery pack that’s said to be the best-in-industry dust and waterproof, meeting IP67 standards. The combined power and torque output of the setup stand at 110kW (148bhp) and 310Nm respectively. The XUV400’s battery pack uses state-of-the-art Li-ion cells. Mahindra claims that its new electric SUV delivers a range of 456km (as per Indian driving cycle – MIDC) on a single charge. The battery pack takes 50 minutes to get charged from 0 to 80% via 50kW DC fast charger. One can charge it 0 to 100% in 6 hours 30 minutes and in 13 hours via a 7.2kW/32A outlet and a standard 3.3kW/16A domestic socket respectively. The electric SUV offers three driving modes – Fun, Fast and Fearless. It offers the segment-first single pedal drive mode – Lively mode.

On the feature front, the electric XUV400 will offer an updated infotainment system with EV-specific data. The unit supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with the voice command and SMS read out. Read – New-Gen Mahindra Bolero To Be Based On Scorpio N Platform

The SUV will come with the leatherette upholstery, auto dimming rear view mirror, front parking sensors, dual zone climate control, heated wing mirrors, a powered sunroof, 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels, tyre pressure monitoring system, multiple airbags, electronic stability program with hill hold assist and rollover mitigation and more.

Mahindra’s new electric SUV carries a closed-off grille and the brand’s new Twin Peaks logo in bronze finish at the front. The grille has X-patterned bronze and black design. It has sleeker rectangular headlamps with integrated DRLs, triangular fog lamp housings and sharply contoured bumper. Moving towards side, the electric SUV has side body cladding, alloy wheels, silver roof rails and side mounted charging port.

Its overall length stands at 4.2 meters, thus making it longer than the XUV300. The electric SUV is 1821mm wide and 1634mm tall. It has a wheelbase of 2600mm. At the back, the XUV400 EV features new wraparound taillamps, differently designed tailgate and a more pronounced license plate housing. It offers the best-in-class boot space of 378-litres/418-lites (up to roof).

The XUV400 will come in 5 colour schemes – Arctic Blue, Galaxy Grey, Everest White, Napoli Black and Infinity Blue with dual-tone roof option in Satin Copper finish.
