Upcoming Hyundai Bayon SUV – What We Know So Far

Hyundai Bayon, the upcoming compact crossover from the South Korean carmaker, will replace the i20 Active in the European markets. Measuring around 4 meters in length, the model will sit below the Kona in the company’s global product lineup. While the Bayon will see a release in Europe in the first quarter of this year, there is no official word on its India launch.

The compact crossover will feature Hyundai’s Sensuous Sportiness design philosophy similar to the newly-launched i20 hatchback. Recently, the carmaker released a few teaser pictures revealing its front design. The split headlamp setup with LED DRLs placed on upper side of the large grille looks similar to the Kona SUV. At the back, the compact crossover will feature new arrow-shaped LED taillamps connected via a light bar.

The turbo-petrol unit will push out a peak power of 82bhp and 113Nm of torque. The compact crossover will be available with three gearbox options – a 5-speed manual (1.2L NA only), a 6-speed MT and a 7-speed DCT (1.0L turbo only).
