We have reported earlier that Hyundai India is planning an all-new 7-seater MPV that will be based on the Creta’s platform. If reports are to be believed, the new Hyundai MPV will challenge the dominance of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. Slated to launch in 2021, the vehicle is currently in its testing phase and was recently caught on camera with heavy camouflage in South Korea.
While the spotted prototype managed to cover most of its details, a latest digital rendering previews a possible design. Upfront, the new Hyundai MPV features the signature hexagonal grille and headlamps with two-part design inspired by the Venue subcompact SUV.
The front overhang appears small/sharp. Other interesting elements including faux skid plate, black ORVMs, chrome bar on the window line, pronounced wheel arches with low profile tyres, black cladding on the lower body and integrated roof rails. The previous spy pictures reveal that the new Hyundai MPV will get a multi function steering wheel with flat top and bottom, brown leather upholstery, separate AC vents integrated on the centre console and a captain seat in the second row.
Rumour has it that Hyundai will offer its new MPV with 6 and 7-seats configurations. It’s likely to share some of its features and components with the new Hyundai Creta. In India, the new MPV is likely to be offered with the naturally aspirated 1.5L petrol, a 1.4L turbo petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel engine option. The model is likely to be offered with manual and automatic gearboxes.
Besides an all-new MPV, the South Korean carmaker is planning to launch the new-generation Hyundai i20 and the Hyundai Creta 7-seater. Talking about the hatchback, the model will witness comprehensive cosmetic and feature upgrades along with new engine setup.
There will be a 118bhp, 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol, 83bhp, a 1.2L, 4-cylinder petrol and a 99bhp, 1.5L diesel powertrain. Transmission choices will include a 5-speed manual (for the 1.2L petrol variants only), a 6-speed manual (for the 1.0L petrol and 1.5L diesel variants), a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic (for the 1.0L petrol variants only) and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic (for the 1.5L diesel variants only).
