2020 Hyundai i20 Rear Design

The new-generation Hyundai i20’s India launch has been postponed to 2020 festive season due to the ongoing pandemic and lockdown. The first official pictures of the premium hatchback have already been revealed by the carmaker and we have seen the model without any camouflage in several spy images. One of its new spy pictures reveal the sporty design bits of its rear section. The 2020 Hyundai i20 features connected LED taillamps with Z-shaped LED inserts, dual-tone bumper and a new tailgate mounted spoiler.

Compared to the current generation, the new one looks sportier thanks to Hyundai’s new design language. Upfront, the hatchback features new LED headlamps and a single piece cascading grille. The 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels, a contrasting roof and new window line give refreshing look to its side profile. The 2020 Hyundai i20 has witnessed noticeable dimensional changes. While its overall length and width have been increased by 5mm and 30mm respectively, the height is trimmed down by 24mm. In fact, it has 25-litres more boot space to offer.

Upcoming Cars Between 5 and 10 lakhs

Major updates have been made inside the cabin. The premium hatchback gets Hyundai’s BlueLink connected car technology that’s likely to offer 33 connected services (10 India-specific) similar to the Venue subcompact SUV. Interestingly, the updated i20 comes with a 10.25-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system, which is largest in its segment. The unit supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto along with features such as navigation, Hyundai Live and cloud-based natural language voice recognition.

For entertainment purpose, the new-generation i20 has an optional Bose audio system with 8-speakers and a sub-woofer. Some of its key features include wireless charging, LED ambient lighting, multi function steering wheel and cruise control. While the global model comes with several advanced safety features, the India-spec 2020 Hyundai i20 will offer dual airbags, rear parking sensors, seat belt alert, speed alert and ABS with EBD as standard features.

The former will be exclusively offered with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The premium hatchback will also be available with a 5-speed manual (1.2L petrol only), a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic transmission.
