Tata Harrier, Nexon Record Highest Monthly Sales in October 2020

October 2020 has been a good month for the home-grown carmaker – Tata Motors. The company posted a massive 79.20 per cent growth with total sales of 23,600 units as opposed to 10,431 units of the same month last year. The Tata Nexon was the company’s top-selling model registering sales of 6888 units. It’s the highest ever monthly sales reported by the subcompact SUV since its launch in 2017. The Nexon’s sales grew 55 per cent Year-on-Year and 15 per cent Month-on-Month.

Tata’s highly popular Harrier 5-seater SUV also did well in terms of sales. The compact SUV recorded sales of 2398 units, which is highest monthly sales since its launch in January, 2020. During same period last year, the Harrier posted total sales of 1258 units, accounting a growth of 91 percent. While the Harrier was the fourth best-selling Tata car, the Altroz premium hatchback and Tiago hatchback grabbed the second and third positions respectively. The carmarker sold 6730 units of Altroz and 6083 units of Tiago in October, 2020.

In coming weeks, Tata will launch the Harrier Camo edition that was recently spotted at the dealer yards. The special edition will be offered in 6 variants – XT, XT+, XZ, XZ+, XZA and XZA+. The carmaker will also bring the Tata Altroz turbo petrol that will come with a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which also does duty in the Nexon compact SUV. Though, the hatchback’s motor will be detuned for generating power worth 110bhp and 140Nm.

Early next year, the company will launch the Tata Gravitas 6/7-seater SUV and HBX mini SUV. While the former will take on the upcoming new-generation Mahindra XUV500, the latter will rival the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso. The Gravitas will share its engine, gearboxes and platform with the Harrier. The HBX mini SUV might come with 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with manual and AMT gearbox options.
