Japanese automaker, Toyota is all set to unveil the much-anticipated Hilux lifestyle pick-up truck for the Indian market today. Interested buyers can pre-book the pick-up by paying an initial amount of Rs 1 lakh, while deliveries are being promised from March 2022.
Expected Price
The new model will arrive as a CKD (completely knocked down) kit and will be assembled at the brand’s Bidadi plant. It will also source some of the local components from the Fortuner & Innova, which should help Toyota to price it competitively. We expect the new Hilux to cost around Rs 25 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. It will be positioned as a premium alternative to the Isuzu D-Max that’s currently priced between Rs 18.05 lakh and Rs 25.06 lakh (ex-showroom).
Toyota Hilux Engine Specs
The Toyota Hilux lifestyle pick-up will be powered by a 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine that also powers the Fortuner. This engine is capable of producing 204bhp of power and 420Nm of torque. Transmission choices could include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. Torque figure will go to 500Nm with automatic gearbox option.It will come with the 4WD (four-wheel drive) system with electronic differential locks. The pick-up will also offer multiple driving modes.
5 Colour Options – it will be offered in 5 different colours – pearl white, super white, emerald red, metallic grey and metallic silver. It is based on the IMV-2 (Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle) platform that also underpins the Fortuner and the Innova Crysta.
In terms of proportions, the new Hilux is 5,325mm long, 1,855mm wide and 1,865mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 3,085mm. It offers a ground clearance of 216mm. The Toyota Hilux will source most of its interior features with the Fortuner. It will get an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multi-functional steering wheel, a 6-speaker audio system, cruise control, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, smart key with push-button and others.
