Japanese automaker, Toyota is gearing up for the lanch of the much-awaited Hilux lifestyle pick-up truck in the Indian market this month. The lifestyle pickup is scheduled to be launched on January 20, while the deliveries are being promised from March, 2022.
The Toyota Hilux lifestyle pick-up will be powered by a 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine. This is the same engine that also powers the Fortuner SUV. It is capable of producing a maximum power output of 204bhp and a peak torque of 420Nm of torque, which increases to 500Nm with automatic gearbox. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
The pick-up will come equipped with a four-wheel-drive system with electronic differential locks. It could also offer multiple driving modes. The Hilux lifestyle pick-up is reportedly to be offered in 5 colour options including pearl white, super white, emerald red, metallic grey and metallic silver.
The report claims that the Hilux pick-up will come equipped with LED headlamps, chrome treatment all-around the body and 18-inch alloy wheels. The dashboard will be shared with the Fortuner. It will share the touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The pick-up will get leather upholstery and multiple airbags.
The Toyota Hilux will be offered in a single, four-door pickup body style. Toyota dealers have already started accepting bookings for the new model, while deliveries will commence by March 2022. It will come as a CKD import and then assembled at Toyota’s plant in Karnataka. Expected to be priced around Rs 25 lakh – Rs 30 lakh, the new Hilux will rival the Isuzu V-Cross.
