Toyota Hilux India Launch In Late 2022 – Isuzu V-Cross Rival

Toyota Hilux lifestyle pick-up truck will make its way to India in late 2022. Here, it will be directly positioned against the Isuzu V-Cross. If reports are to be believed, the pick-up truck will be made available in two variants – Hilux and Hilux Revo. While the former is likely to be priced around 18 lakh, the latter will cost nearly Rs 25 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The Hilux has been built on the IMV (Innovative International Multi-purpose Vehicle) platform that underpins the Fortuner SUV and Innova Crysta MPV. Under the hood, the Toyota Hilux will feature the 2.4L diesel and 2.8L diesel engines making power worth 150bhp and 204bhp respectively. The smaller capacity motor with 2WD (two-wheel drive) system will be available on the entry-level variant, while the bigger capacity oil burner will be offered on the higher trim with both 2WD and 4WD systems. The lifestyle pick-up truck will come with manual and automatic gearbox options.

In International markets, the Hilux is being offered with three engines – 2.7L petrol (164bhp/245Nm), 2.4L diesel (145bhp) and 2.8L (201bhp) – and three gearbox options – 5-speed manual, 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. Besides sharing the platform, the new Toyota pick-up truck will share its features and several other components with the Innova Crysta and Fortuner. In terms of features, it will offer a new 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 4.2-inch TFT display, 6-speaker audio system, power adjustable driver’s seat, cruise control, automatic AC unit with rear vents, smart key with push-button engine start/stop and more.

In select global markets, the Hilux is offered with ADAS (advanced driver assistance system). However, the India-spec version might miss on it. It could be packed with 7 airbags, hill start and hill descent assists, vehicle stability control, rear parking camera with sensors and traction control.
