In June 2021, the South Korean automaker introduced the Hyundai Alcazar 6/7-seater SUV in the country. The model lineup comes in three trims – Prestige, Platinum and Signature – priced between Rs 16.30 lakh – Rs 20.14 lakh (all, ex-showroom). Now, the company has removed the entry-level Prestige 6-seater manual and automatic variants that cost Rs 16.45 lakh and Rs 17.93 lakh respectively. The Prestige 7-seater manual and 6/7-seater diesel variants are continue to be on offer. One must note that there is no official word on removal of the base 6-seater petrol variants. The Hyundai Alcazar comes with 2.0L naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5L turbo diesel engines, which return a claimed power of 159bhp with 191Nm and 115bhp with 250Nm respectively. Both motors come with the 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options.

Hyundai’s three-row SUV offers three drive modes – Comfort, Eco and Sport and three traction control modes – Sand, Snow and Mud. The automaker claims that the Alcazar petrol with manual and automatic gearbox deliver fuel economy of 14.5kmpl and 14.2kmpl respectively. Its diesel manual variants offer a mileage of 20.4kmpl and diesel automatic models promise 18.1kmpl. It’s claimed to be the most fuel efficient SUV in its category.

Talking about Hyundai’s future plant, the company is working on a three-row compact MPV that’s slated to arrive early next year. It will challenge the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga that’s currently ruling the segment. The Mahindra Marazzo and Kia’s upcoming compact MPV (Kia Carens) will also be positioned against it. The automaker might bring in the Hyundai Stargazer MPV that’s designed especially for the Asian market. It will be first launched in Indonesia, followed by other Asian countries. Its reported to be equipped with the ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), Hyundai SmartSense feature, sunroof and other goodies.
