India’s top two passenger car manufacturers, Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motor India, has lined-up a range of new vehicles for 2021. Here’s a brief on the upcoming Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai new cars, which are ready to hit roads next year.
Upcoming New Maruti Suzuki Cars In 2021
New-Gen Maruti Suzuki Celerio
The Indo-Japanese carmaker will give a generation change to its entry-level Celerio hatchback in early 2021. While the new model will retain the upright stance, it will be bigger and slightly higher than the existing version. The hatchback will come with significantly revised design and interior. Under the hood, the 2021 Maruti Celerio will feature 1.2L K12 petrol and 1.0L K10 petrol engines delivering power worth 83bhp with 110Nm and 68bhp with 90Nm respectively.
New-Gen Maruti Suzuki Alto
The new-generation Maruti Suzuki Alto has also been planned for 2021. The hatchback’s new model will carry more upright stance along with entirely revised front and increased height. If reports are to be believed, the 2021 Maruti Alto might be based on the new Heartect platform. Powering the new-generation hatchback will be a 796cc, naturally aspirated petrol engine making 48bhp and 69Nm. Transmission choices will include a manual and an AMT unit. The CNG kit with petrol engine will continue to be offered.
Upcoming New Hyundai Cars In 2021
Maruti Electric Car
Maruti Suzuki’s first electric car is reported to come in early 2021. It will be an electric hatchback based on the third-generation WagonR underpinning the new Heartect platform. As of now, its powertrain details are not available. Though, the new Maruti electric car is likely to come with standard and fast charging facilities. Its battery pack can be fully charged in 7 hours via a regular power socket and an hour (up to 80%) via fast charger. The Maruti Suzuki electric car will offer a range of 150km on a full charge.
Hyundai Creta 7-Seater
The 7-seater Hyundai Creta will be the most important launches from the South Korean carmaker in 2021. Its production model is reported to be named ‘Hyundai Alcazar’ and see a release in the second half of the year. Some noticeable changes will be made to its exterior and interior. It will be 20mm longer than the 5-seater Creta and have an additional third row of seats to accommodate more occupants. The Creta 7-seater engine setup might include a 138bhp, 1.4L turbocharged petrol and a 113bhp, 1.5L turbocharged diesel unit. The SUV can be had with either manual or automatic gearbox.
