The much-awaited Volkswagen Taigun compact SUV will be launched in the Indian market on September 23, 2021. It will be positioned against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Skoda Kushaq. The new model will be based on the Volkswagen Group’s MQB AO IN platform that underpins the Skoda Kushaq. It will be offered with two engine options – a 113bhp, 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol and a 147bhp, 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic with 1.0L petrol, and a 7-speed DSG with 1.5L petrol.

MG Motors has officially announced to unveil the much-anticipated MG Astor mid-sized SUV on September 15, 2021. It is expected to be launched in the month of September 2021. The new model is basically the petrol version of the ZS EV. The Astor is claimed to be equipped with several segment-first features including personal assistant system, iSmart Hub, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ADAS system, etc. The SUV will also get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.

The new Astor mid-sized SUV is likely to be offered with two petrol engine options – a 120bhp, 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and a 163bhp, 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.

Citroen will launch the new C3 sub-4 meter SUV in the Indian market in the first half of 2022. It is reportedly to be unveiled on September 16, 2021. It will measure around 3.95 meters in length, and will rival the Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, Renault Kiger and the Nissan Magnite. The Citroen C3 will be based on the CMP (Common Modular Platform), which will also underpin the future Citroen’s smart cars.

The India-spec model will be powered by a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which can produce up to 130bhp of power. A 5-speed manual gearbox will come as standard, while a DCT automatic gearbox could join the line-up at a later stage. The Citroen CC21 could be the first model in India to feature flex-fuel system, which is compatible to feature a 1.2L petrol engine with ethanol blends starting from 27% to entirely on the biofuel.

Maruti Suzuki will launch 5-door version of the Jimny off-roader in the country by July 2022. The new model will ride on 300mm longer wheelbase, and the length will be increased by 300mm. The increase in wheelbase will help Suzuki to forward-facing bench-type second row seat. It will measure 3,850mm in length, 1,645mm in width and 1,730mm in height. The SUV will have a wheelbase of 2,550mm, while the ground clearance stands at 210mm. It will have a kerb weight of 1190kg, which is 100kgs higher than the 3-door Sierra.

The new Suzuki Jimny LWB is expected to be powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with mild hybrid system. This engine produces 100bhp of power and 130Nm of torque. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed torque convertor automatic.

Maruti Suzuki is working on the next-gen Brezza, which is rumoured to be launched in 2022. The new model will be based on the new platform, which will allow MSIL to add modern connectivity features. It is reported to get a factory-fitted sunroof, advanced touchscreen infotainment system, connected car tech, cruise control, six airbags and many more. The SUV will be powered by a 1.5-litre K15B petrol engine with a stronger mild-hybrid system. Transmission choices are likely to include a 5-speed MT & a 6-speed torque convertor automatic.
