MG Astor SUV (Creta Rival) To Be Unveiled On September 15, 2021

The much-awaited MG Astor mid-sized SUV will finally make global debut in India on September 15, 2021. The new compact SUV will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and the soon-to-be-launched Volkswagen Taigun. MG has already revealed key features of the Astor.

The MG Astor mid-sized SUV is equipped with several segment-first features, which gives it an upper hand over the rivals. Even the entry-level variants will be equipped with features such as touchscreen infotainment system, connectivity features, etc. The new model will be equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard in all variants.

The new MG Astor mid-sized SUV will come with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity along with personal AI-assistant. It will also get the JioSaavn app for music/videos. It will also get first-in-segment Autonomous Level-2 technology. The ADAS features on offer includes autonomous emergency braking system, ESP (Electronic Stability Program), forward collision warning, speed limit assist, adaptive cruise control, rear drive assist, blind spot detection, lane keeping assist and automatic high-beam lighting system.

The personal AI-assistant presents human-like emotions & voices and can give detailed information on every topic through Wikipedia. It will engage the people in the car and is powered by i-Smart Hub. The i-Smart Hub system hosts subscriptions and services such as maps and navigation with MapMyIndia, Jio connectivity and the Blockchain protected vehicle digital passport by KoineArth & more. The MG Astor owners will also get access to music on the JioSaavn app along with a feature of reserving a parking slot through a head unit (powered by Park+ – select cities to begin with) in the car.

MG Astor Launch Date

The new MG Astor mid-sized SUV comes with chromed hexagonal grille, LED headlamps with DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps) that can double as turn indicators, and LED tail-lights. It will offer three steering modes – Dynamic, Normal and Urban. The SUV comes equipped with features such as rain sensing wipers, 6-way electrically adjustable driver seat, manually adjustable co-passenger seat, panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery for seat, etc.

The new Astor mid-sized SUV is likely to be offered with two petrol engine options – a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol. While the naturally-aspirated petrol engine will produce around 120bhp and 150Nm of torque, the turbocharged engine is capable of producing 163bhp of power and 230Nm of torque. Both manual and automatic gearbox options will be on offer.
