MG Motor India has officially announced to launch an electric vehicle in the country before the end of this financial year. The new model will be priced between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15. This mass market EV will be an electric crossover, which will be based on a global platform. The vehicle will be customised for the Indian market. The new model should offer an electric range of over 300kms. It will be positioned against the Tata Nexon EV, which is currently India’s best-selling EV holding close to 60% market share.

Tata Motors will introduce the updated Nexon EV in the next few months. The new model will have cosmetic design changes and upgraded cabin. Adding to it, the SUV will be equipped with a bigger battery pack. It is likely to get a 40kWh battery pack with claimed range of over 400kms. In real-world, it should offer a range closer to 280km.

The new model will get features like ventilated seats, cruise control and a park model. It could also receive air purifier and electronic stability program (ESP). The long range Tata Nexon EV will also receive a more powerful 6.6kW AC charger.

Mahindra will launch the long-awaited XUV300 Electric before the end of this financial year. The company had showcased the eXUV300 concept at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo. If reports are to be believed, the new model could be called the Mahindra XUV400. It will be the brand’s first product to be based on new Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture (MESMA).

The new XUV300 electric is expected to be offered in two battery options. The entry-level variant could get a 40kWh battery pack offering a range close to 300-350km. The high-end model will have a bigger battery pack with range over 400km. It will rival the MG ZS EV and the Hyundai Kona EV.
