Mahindra’s long anticipated Mahindra XUV300 electric will finally be launched this financial year. We first saw it in the early concept form at the 2020 Delhi Auto Expo, though we expect it to receive several design changes and features when it goes on sale.
Mahindra XUV300 Launch Timeline
In an official statement, Mahindra & Mahindra‘s Automotive CEO, Veejay Nakra, confirmed that the electric version of its compact SUV will be rolled out in Q3 or Q4 of this fiscal year. This means either around the festive season or sometime between the January – March 2023.
Platform
As we told you in our previous articles, the eXUV300 will be based on the company’s Mahindra Electric Scalable and Modular Architecture (MESMA) that’s built ground up locally at the company’s facility. Since it’s scalable, it can be used for different body types ranging across different segments. Not just the platform, M&M also aims to supply critical EV components to global automakers.
Mahindra XUV300 Electric Range
As per our source, the company will introduce the XUV300 Electric in two options offering different range. There could be an entry level 40KWh battery pack offering around 200-250Km range in the real world conditions, which is quite similar to that of the Nexon electric.
The high-end model, on the other hand, may get a bigger battery pack to rival the upcoming extended range Nexon, MG ZS EV and other players in the high-range EV segment. Though we don’t have the exact configuration details of the electric motor, we expect it to offer power equivalent to 130bhp, thus making it quite a powerful vehicle for the segment.
