Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch two updated models in the third week of April 2022. The plan outlines the 2022 Maruti Ertiga facelift and 2022 Maruti XL6 facelift. While the automaker hasn’t yet revealed their launch dates, the new XL6 is reported to hit showrooms on 21st April. The spy images reveal that the MPV will receive minor upgrades inside and out and significant changes will be made under the hood. The new XL6 will be more fuel efficient than before and come with a new automatic gearbox.
The MPV’s new model will be powered by a 1.5L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine that’s good enough for 103bhp and 138Nm. The existing 4-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox will be replaced with a new 6-speed automatic unit. A 5-speed manual gearbox will continue to come as standard across the model lineup.
The new 6-speed automatic transmission is reported to enhance performance with better shift times and faster responses. As mentioned above, the 2022 Maruti XL6 will witness a few cosmetic changes. Upfront, there will be a new grille and slightly tweaked bumper. Similar to the Indonesian spec model, the India-spec version might get bigger alloy wheels. Interior details are not available yet. Though, the MPV is likely to receive new seat upholstery with a larger 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.
The info unit might support the wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Features such as wireless phone charging, leather seats, automatic air conditioning and revised aircon controls might also be on offer. Rumour has it that the automaker might introduce the updated XL6 with 7-seats configuration as well.
