Tata Will Soon Launch A Range of New Special Editions – Report

Tata Motors recently introduced the new Harrier and Safari XTA+ variants with a panoramic sunroof and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. While the Tata Harrier XTA+ has been offered at Rs 19.34 lakh, the Tata Safari XTA+ costs Rs 20.08 lakh. The carmaker also rolled out the updated Tata Tiago NRG at a starting price of Rs 6.57 lakh. Speaking to AutoCar, Martin Uhlarik, new Head of Global Design at Tata Motors, has revealed that the company’s design team is working on several special editions that will arrive “far more quickly that what we would expect”.

While details of the upcoming new Tata special editions are still under the wraps, the carmaker is likely to expand its Dark Edition range. The company might consider Dark Edition of the newly-launched Tata Tiago NRG. In fact, it has already trademarked the Tata Tiago and Tigor Dark Edition names in the country. Besides this, the home-grown carmaker will evolve its Impact design language, develop new platforms and electric vehicles. The Tata Tiago and Tigor CNG variants are also in the pipeline.

The production-ready Tata HBX mini SUV will be the next big launch from the home-grown carmaker. Its first batch will soon be dispatched to dealers. The micro SUV will underpin the brand’s Impact 2.0 design language and carry upright, boxy stance similar to the concept. It will be the smallest and most affordable Tata SUV in the country. The HBX could be priced as low as Rs 4.50 lakh for the base model and Rs 7.50 lakh for the top-end variant.

While its official details are yet to be revealed, the upcoming mini SUV is reported to come with the 1.2L, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol and 1.2L turbo petrol engines. There could be three gearboxes on offer – 5-speed manual, 5-speed AMT and a dual-clutch automatic.
