Tata Punch Interior – Dual-Tone Colour, Altroz Inspired Features

Tata Motors has released a new teaser video of the upcoming Punch micro SUV that’s slated to hit roads next month (October 2021). This time around, the company has revealed the interior layout and features of the model. The Tata Punch gets a dual-tone interior theme with Blue accents on the AC vents. There is a dashboard integrated touchscreen infotainment system. One can also notice the digital analogue instrument cluster. Both units look similar to the Tata Altroz premium hatchback. The mini SUV comes with a flat-bottom, three-spoke multi-function steering wheel featuring control buttons. It has also been equipped with automatic climate control and a start-stop button. Earlier teasers reveal that the Tata Punch could also be packed with a few segment-first features including hill decent control, hill start assist and traction modes (Snow, Rock, Sand and Mud). Similar to the Nexon, the upcoming mini SUV will offer three drive modes – Eco, City and Sport.

The automaker hasn’t yet revealed its safety features, but confirmed that it will provide ‘Absolute Safety’. It’s likely to come with drive and co-passenger airbags, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution), rear parking sensors, cornering stability control, seat belt reminders, seat belt pretensioners and speed alert system. The higher trims could be exclusively offered with auto door lock, rear parking camera and follow-me home headlamps.

Engine setup of the new Tata Punch micro SUV will include a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated Revotron and 1.2L turbocharged petrol unit. The naturally aspirated motor is good enough for 85bhp and 113Nm of torque. The turbocharged unit will be borrowed from the Altroz where it makes power worth 100bhp. For mini SUV, however, the carmaker might detune it. There will be two gearboxes on offer a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT.

Dimensionally, the Punch will be the smallest Tata SUV in the country. In fact, it will also be the most affordable SUV from the brand that’s estimated to be priced from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, the new Tata micro SUV will face challenge from cars like Maruti Suzuki Ignis and Mahindra KUV100.
