Japanese two-wheeler maker, Yamaha has finally launched the new R15 V4 in the Indian market. Not just new Yamaha R15, the company has also launched a new maxi scooter – Aerox 155. Adding to it, Yamaha has also announced the prices of the new RayZR 125.

The new Yamaha R15 is offered in two variants – Standard & M. The motorcycle comes with revised styling and new features. It comes with a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster; however, this feature is offered on the premium variant of the range. The new Yamaha R15 also comes with a traction control system as standard, while a quickshifter is offered as an optional. 

The new Yamaha R15 comes with inverted forks and golden finished fork bottles. This is for the first time that the India-spec model is fitted with a USD front forks. The new Yamaha R15 comes with revised styling. Majority of the changes are made to the front of the motorcycle. It comes with a new fairing and windscreen, and a new LED headlight in the center. The headlights are flanked by a new set of DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps) on either side.

Yamaha R15 M

The front design of the new Yamaha R15 seems heavily inspired by the new YZF-R7, which was unveiled in international markets. The company has also launched the new M version of the R15, which is called the new Yamaha R15M. The M version of the motorcycle comes with a new silver and blue colour scheme that replicates the bigger R15M. The LED taillamps have also been redesigned. It comes with a slightly repositioned pillion footpegs, exhaust muffler with metallic finish, golden front forks.

Powering the new Yamaha R15 & R15M is the same 155cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine benefitted with VVA technology. This engine is capable of producing 18.35PS of power and 14.1Nm of torque, which is a drop of 0.35bhp. The same engine in the previous model offers 18.6PS and 14.1Nm of torque. It is paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

The motorcycle features USD front forks replacing the standard telescopic forks. At the back, the new R15 retains the monoshock suspension unit. For braking, the bike gets 282mm front and 220Nm rear disc brakes with the standard dual-channel ABS system.

New Yamaha Aerox 155

Yamaha has also presented the new Aerox 155 maxi scooter, which is positioned against the Aprilia SXR160. It is based on the new R15 V3.0’s engine platform. Powering the scooter is a 155cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine with Yamaha’s Blue Core Tech. While powering the maxi scooter, this 155cc engine produces 15.4bhp of power at 8,000rpm and a peak torque of 13.9Nm at 6,500rpm.

Yamaha Aerox 155 Price

The new Yamaha Aerox 155 weighs 125kgs, and has a bigger 5.5-litre fuel tank. It comes with single disc in front and drum brake at the rear. The Aerox 155 rides on 14-inch wheels wrapped in 110/80 and 140/70 section tyres at the front and rear respectively. In terms of proportions, the new Yamaha Aerox 155 is 1,980mm long, 700mm wide and 1,150mm tall. It rides on 1,350mm long wheelbase. The scooter also gets ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System).

The scooter also gets Yamaha’s Y-Connect as standard, which can be connected to rider’s smartphone using associated application. Using this application, rider can monitor functions such as maintenance intervals, malfunction notifications, mileage, battery level and parking location. The smartphone with Y-Connect can also act as a secondary instrument panel, displaying tachometer and other functions while simultaneously showing calls or message notification.

Talking about features, the scooter gets LED lighting system – twin LED headlamps with LED DRLs & New LED tail-lights, a LCD digital instrument console, external fuel lid, etc. It has 24.5-litres of storage compartment under the seat. For suspension duties, the scooter gets telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear.

Yamaha RayZR 125 Fi

Yamaha has also launched the new RayZR 125 scooter in the Indian market. It is priced at Rs 76,830 for the base model, which goes up to Rs 83,830 for the top-spec Street Rally.

It is powered by a 125cc, air-cooled FI (fuel injected) engine boosted with ‘Hybrid Power Assist’. This engine churns out a peak power of 8.2PS at 6500rpm and 10.Nm for torque at 5000rpm. It also comes with a Smart Motor Generator (SMG) system that offers power assist for a few seconds when the motor is accelerated from stop and automatic engine stop-start.
