Tata Nexon EV To Get A Power Boost; Details Revealed

Tata Motors is ready to launch the more powerful Tigor EV on 31st August 2021. The electric compact sedan will feature Tata Nexon’s Ziptron EV high-voltage (300V) powetrain that includes a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor and a 26kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The electric motor is good enough for 75bhp and 170Nm and it can do 0 to 60kmph in 5.7 seconds. The 2021 Tata Tigor EV will be compatible to fast charging and can be charged up to 80% in just 60 minutes. The company will offer an 8 year/1,60,000 battery and motor warranty with the new Tigor EV.

According to an official document, the home-grown carmaker is also planning to introduce a more powerful version of the Tata Nexon EV. The updated model will deliver power worth 134bhp (136PS).

2021 Tata Nexon EV Specs

With the powertrain update, the subcompact EV will get as powerful as the Hyundai Kona that comes with 136bhp electric motor. It will be just 7bhp less powerful than the MG ZS EV. The increased power figure may or may not impact the electric range of the subcompact electric SUV. As of now, there is no official word on the updated Nexon EV launch timeline.  In terms of design and features, the 2021 Tata Nexon EV is likely to remain unchanged.

Tata Nexon EV India

The electric SUV is currently available in three variants – XM, XZ+ and XZ+ LUX – priced at Rs 13.99 lakh, Rs 15.65 lakh and Rs 16.65 lakh respectively. The XZ+ and XZ+ LUX Dark Editions are priced at Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 16.85 lakh respectively. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom. With more powerful powertrain, the 2021 Tata Nexon EV is likely to witness a minor price hike. At present, the Nexon EV doesn’t have any direct rival in India. Though, Mahindra & Mahindra’s upcoming e-XUV300 will directly take on it that’s due for next year.
