Tata Motors has increased prices of the Nexon subcompact SUV by up to Rs 16,000. After the price hike, the model lineup comes in the price range of Rs 6.99 lakh – Rs 12.40 lakh. The entry-level XE petrol variant is now available at Rs 6.99 lakh and the top-end XZA+ DT (S) petrol model costs at Rs 11.34 lakh.

The Nexon, that received its first mid-life updated early this year, comes with the BS6-compliant 1.2L turbo petrol and 1.5L diesel engines developing 110bhp with 170Nm and 110bhp with 260Nm respectively. The subcompact SUV can be had either with a 6-speed manual or an AMT gearbox.

Minor changes have also been made to the vehicle including digital instrument cluster, a new flat-bottom steering wheel, lighter shade theme, more upright stance and revised front fascia in-line with its EV sibling.
Reports suggest that the carmaker is planning introduce DCT (dual-clutch transmission) unit on the Tata Nexon model lineup. The new 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox will be sourced from Punch that’s claimed to be more refined and efficient than the other AMT units. In fact, it’s smoother to shift. The same unit will also be offered on the Altroz premium hatchback.
The home-grown carmaker might also bring in the Nexon EV with more electric range. The company will update its Ziptron electric powertrain under its ‘New Forever’ philosophy and roll out updated models in every month or every two months. Currently, the electric compact SUV comes with a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery and a 129bhp, permanent magnet AC motor delivering range of 312km on a single charge.
