In order to expand its EV product range, Tata Motors plans to bring in 10 new electric cars in the next 5 years. The company currently sells three electric cars in India, namely, Nexon EV (Prime/Max), Tigor EV and Tiago EV. All three EVs have an average waiting period of 2-3 months. Tata Nexon EV Prime
Powertrain setup of the Nexon EV Prime consists a 30.2kWh battery pack transmitting power to the front-axle mounted electric motor. The electric motor makes a top power of 129PS and 245Nm of torque. The electric SUV comes with two modes – Drive and Sports. The Tata Nexon EV Prime offers a claimed range of 312km on a single charge. Its battery pack can be charged from 20% to 80% in 8 hours from a 15A AC wall socket.
Tata Nexon EV Max
The Tata Nexon EV Max, on the other hand, features a bigger 40.5kWh battery pack and an electric motor making 143PS with 250Nm. The model has three modes – Eco, City and Sports. It’s available with two charging options – a 3.3kW or 7.2kW. With the 3.3kW and 7.2kW charger, the Nexon EV Max costs between Rs 16.49 lakh – Rs 18.49 lakh and Rs 16.99 lakh – Rs 18.99 lakh respectively. Tata says that it delivers a certified range of 453km on a full charge.
Tata Tiago EV
The Tiago EV is being offered with two lithium-ion battery pack options – 19.2kWh and 24kWh. While the former offers a claimed MIDC range of 250km, the larger battery pack version delivers a claimed MIDC range of 315km. It has Tata’s Ziptron high-voltage architecture that uses a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that produces 74hp and 114Nm with the larger 24kWh battery, while the smaller 19.2kWh variants produce 61hp and 110Nm.
