Tata Curvv Petrol, Diesel To Challenge Hyundai Creta, Launch After EV

Tata Motors aims to expand its SUV and EV (electric vehicle) product lineup in the coming years. The automaker recently unveiled the Tata Curvv mid-size SUV Coupe concept that’s likely to enter into production in the next two years. Initially, it will be offered in its electric avatar only. The company will bring in its petrol and diesel versions at a later stage.

The production-ready Curvv (ICE – Internal Combustion Engine) will be positioned against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and Volkswagen Taigun. Here’re key details we know so far about the Tata Curvv SUV.

Upfront, the SUV features a futuristically designed bumper, headlamps with triangular housings and a thin LED strip placed above the signature badge. The coupe-like sloping roofline, squared-off wheel arches, body cladding and bold shoulder creases enhance its side profile. The SUV Coupe concept has a notchback-styled boot, an angular bumper, full-width light strip taillamps and triangular air vents at the rear.

The SUV underpins the company’s new-generation 2 EV architecture, which is essentially the heavily modified version of the Nexon’s platform. The new architecture is compatible to different bodystyles and powertrains. It can also accommodate a dual motor setup, thus enabling to fit AWD (all-wheel drive) system.

Interior layout of the new Tata Curvv SUV Coupe concept has minimalist and neat design. It has three-layer, sculpted dashboard with fabric material on the top. Design bits such as a LED light strip running across the width of the cabin and a black, angular part at the bottom enhance its futuristic looks.

There are two free-standing digital displays integrated on the dashboard. One of them for the infotainment system and another one for the instrument cluster. The Tata Curvv SUV concept also gets newly-designed two-spoke steering wheel design, a floating centre console layout and a panoramic sunroof.

As mentioned above, the Tata Curvv SUV Coupe will be first introduced as a pure electric car. It’s internal combustion engine (ICE) version will follow later. While details of its electric version are still under the wraps, it’s reported to offer range of 400km-500km.
