It’s no secret that Tata Motors has been giving a tough battle to players like Hyundai, Mahindra and Kia month after month. March 2022 was no different as the automaker sold a total of 42,293 units as against 29,654 units in the corresponding month last year. This is a brilliant 42.62% year-on-year growth and 5.78% month-on-month. The products that contributed the most in the overall growth are Tata Nexon, Punch, and Altroz with 14,315, 10,526, and 4,727 units respectively.
Though the Altroz was not among top 10 which it was at one point of time, it still is quite a crucial product for the brand. With the launch of the Altroz DCA automatic variant, the company is expecting to attract more buyers in coming months.
Coming to Nexon, it continues to be the biggest contributor for the brand month after month. And the things that seem to be working in its favour are its crash test rating, cabin space and overall packaging. What’s interesting to note is the fact that it has even beaten Maruti Suzuki Vitata Brezza that has sold 12,439 units in the same month. With the new-gen Brezza’s launch around the corner, it’ll be interesting to see if the Nexon continues to hold the leadership position in the compact SUV space.
Just so you know, Tata Nexon electric too has been doing exceptionally well for the company as it continues to be the preferred choice for electric car buyers in India. Tata Motors is the sole brand that has been able to cross 3000 sales mark in the Indian four wheeler EV space. It sold 3,357 units in the previous month, thus registering a staggering year-on-year growth of 377 percent.
The FY21 has also been the most successful for Tata Motors since its inception as it managed to sell 3,70,372 units registering 67% increase vs the last Financial Year.
