The next big launch from the Czech automaker will be the Skoda Kushaq that will be placed against the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. After the mid-size SUV, the company has planned a mid-size sedan (codenamed ANB) to challenge the Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Reports suggest that its production version could be named Skoda Slavia. The sedan is currently in its testing phase and it was recently caught on camera in Pune. The new Skoda sedan is slated to hit roads towards the end of 2021.
While its launch is months away, a latest digital rendering gives a preview of its possible design. The rendered Skoda Slavia, which is based on the spy images, shares resemblance to the Russia-spec Rapid sedan. Though, it’s relatively longer and has subtle chrome treatment at the front end. You can notice a chrome strip just above the front grille and between the bumper. The signature butterfly grille, swept-back headlamps, and Skoda badge on the front fender add more to its new looks.
The sedan’s liftback tailgate looks similar to the new Octavia. The spy images reveal that the new Skoda sedan will feature the LED taillamps, a shark fin antenna and integrated roof spoiler. Interior of the Slavia is likely to be inspired by the upcoming Skoda Kushaq SUV. Though, it’s likely to get a new two-spoke steering wheel and a sunroof.
Engine setup of the new Skoda Slavia sedan is likely to be borrowed from the upcoming Skoda and Volkswagen models. The sedan might come with a 1.0L TSI turbocharged petrol motor delivering power worth 115bhp and 175Nm of torque. The gasoline unit could be offered with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission option. There might also be a 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol engine on offer. It can be had either with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual gearbox. Its power and torque figures stand at 150bhp and 250Nm respectively.
