Skoda Karoq, which was launched in May this year, has been sold out in the country. Within 9 months of its arrival, the carmaker managed to sell almost all 1,000 units of the 5-seater SUV allocated for the Indian market. The information comes from Zac Hollis, Director – Sales, Service & Marketing, Skoda Auto India. Replying to a tweet, he revealed that the company had 1,000 units of the Karoq as FBU (fully built unit) and it sold all of them.
In India, the Karoq is available in a single, fully-loaded variant packed with a 1.5L turbo petrol motor that belongs to the Volkswagen Group’s TSI engine family. Transmission duties are done by a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. It delivers power worth 150bhp and 250Nm of torque to the front wheels. The 5-seater SUV promises fuel economy of 14.49kmpl and a maximum speed of 202kmph.
First previewed at the 2020 Auto Expo, the Skoda Karoq features the brand’s signature SUV design language in line with the Kodiaq. The sharp detailing and clean cut lines are exactly similar to the Kodiaq. Though, it’s slightly scaled-down version. The Karoq shares its underpinning with the Skoda Kodiaq and Volkswagen T-Roc. It measures 4382mm in length, 1814mm in width and 1605mm in height with a wheelbase of 2638mm. The SUV offers a cargo space of 521-litres that can be increased up to 1810-litres by folding the rear seats. On the safety front, Skoda’s 5-seater SUV offers 9 airbags, brake assist, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, a rear parking camera, hill start assist and electronic stability control.
Some of its key features include full-LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, configurable ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control, and more.
