Skoda Vision IN (Seltos, Creta Rival) Spotted In India

Skoda Vision IN concept based mid-size SUV will be the next big launch from the Czech carmaker in the country. Reports suggest that its production version will debut in the first quarter of 2021 (i.e. between January – March). Ahead of its official unveiling, the prototype of the Vision IN has been spotted testing on Indian roads. While the test mule was heavily camouflaged covering most of its design details, its near production taillamps and roof rails were exposed.

The upcoming compact SUV from Skoda will be the brand’s first model to be built on the locally-developed MQB AO-IN platform. The new architecture has been specially adapted to fulfill requirements of the Indian market. It’s claimed to combine “an optimum amount of space…the highest degree of versatility and state of the art technologies”. The same platform will underpin Volkswagen’s upcoming Taigun compact SUV.

Skoda Vision In Spied India

Powering the new Skoda SUV will be a 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbocharged petro engine making 150bhp and 250Nm. For transmitting power, there will be a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. The compact SUV will is capable to do 0 to 100kmph in 8.7 seconds and offer a top speed of 195kmph. There will no diesel engine option. Though, the carmaker might introduce a CNG variant. In the mid-size SUV space, the Skoda Vision IN concept based model will take on the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta and Nissan Kicks. Its prices are likely to start from Rs 10 lakh for the entry-level variant and go up to Rs 16 lakh for the fully-loaded version. The company hopes that the new small SUV will help it increase its annual Indian sales almost 8 folds and its global sales figure to 2 million by 2030.
