Scorpio to Brezza – 4 Popular Cars to Enter New Generation In 2021

The Indian automobile industry has started the year 2021 on a positive note as most of the car manufacturers registered a decent YoY (year-on-year) growth in the last two months. Several new cars have made their debut and several have been lined up for the coming months. Here, we have listed the top 4 popular cars that will receive a generation change by the end of 2021. It includes one hatchback and three SUVs. 

1. Maruti Celerio

Maruti Suzuki Celerio is ready to enter into its second generation in coming months. While its official launch details are yet to be revealed, the hatchback is reported to arrive in May 2021. Compared to the outgoing model, the new one will be bigger and powerful. The 2021 Maruti Celerio will come with a 1.2L, 4-cylinder petrol and a 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol engine making 83bhp and 68bhp respectively. Both manual and AMT gearboxes will be on offer. The hatch will receive a 7.0-inch SmartPlay Studio infotainment system, new dashboard, steering wheel, instrument cluster and centre console. Noticeable design changes will also be made to its exterior. The new Celerio will be based on the Heartect platform replacing the existing one.

2. Maruti Vitara Brezza

The Indo-Japanese carmaker is planning to roll out the new-generation Maruti Vitara Brezza before 2021 festive season. Speculations are on rife that the SUV’s new model might underpin the modified version of the existing C-platform or use Suzuki’s lightweight Heartect architecture. Comprehensive changes will also be made under the hood. The 2021 Maruti Vitara Brezza is reported to come with the BS6-compliant 1.5L diesel engine along with the 1.5L K15B naturally aspirated petrol unit boosted with a stronger 48V SHVS mild hybrid system. Design and feature details of the new model are scanty as of now. Though, the compact SUV is likely to witness some significant upgrades.

3. Mahindra XUV500

The second-generation Mahindra XUV500 is ready to hit roads in coming months. The SUV will be offered with more powerful petrol and diesel engines along with bigger body-built and more features. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 can be had with either a 180bhp, 2.2L diesel or a 190bhp, 2.0L petrol engine. There will be a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox on offer. The carmaker will also equip the new XUV500 with high-tech features including level 1 autonomous driver assistance technology, an eyelid tracking mechanism, connected car technology, a 3D panoramic vision for driver, a 360 degree camera and many more. The SUV will come with both 6 and 7-seats configurations.

4. Mahindra Scorpio

After the new XUV500, the home-grown carmaker will launch the new-generation Mahindra Scorpio. Compared to the current generation, the new model will be bigger and carry bolder design elements. In fact, it will have more cabin space to offer. Reports suggest that the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio might be offered with the forward-facing third row of seats. It will be based on the ZEN3 platform that also underpins the new Thar. The new Scorpio will come with a 2.0L turbo petrol and a new 2.2L turbo diesel engine pushing out power worth 152bhp and 158bhp respectively. The spy pictures confirm that the SUV will receive a factory-fitted panoramic sunroof along with features such as a touchscreen infotainment system, multi functional steering wheel, multi-functional steering wheel, automatic AC unit and multi coloured speedometer, etc.
