A latest set of spy pictures of the new-generation Mahindra XUV500 has emerged on the web. The spotted test mule was heavily camouflaged revealing some of its exterior and interior details. It was the 7-seater model with diesel engine and automatic gearbox combination.
The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will come with the 180bhp, 2.2L diesel and 190bhp, 2.0L mStallion petrol engine options. This will make it the most powerful petrol SUV in its segment. It can be had either with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. Both 2WD and 4WD systems will be on offer.
As you can see in the spy pictures, the SUV’s third row seat has two individual headrests. Compared to the current generation, the new one will sit on a longer wheelbase and have more cabin space to offer. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will come with two digital displays working as an instrument cluster and a touchscreen infotainment system. The setup looks similar as we have seen in Mercedes-Benz cars. With the generation change, the XUV500 will receive dual-tone (Black and Beige) interior theme with a panoramic sunroof. In fact, the carmaker will pack the SUV will lots of advanced goodies including the level 1 autonomous driver assistance technology.

The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will take a big leap in terms of design as well. The new generation model will get projector LED headlamps, C-shaped LED DRLs, new Mahindra logo, flush type foor handles, newly-designed alloy wheels and larger LED taillamps.
Once launched, the new Mahindra XUV500 2021 will go head-to-head against the MG Hector Plus and the newly-launched Tata Safari. The upcoming Hyundai Alcazar, that will come with both 6 and 7-seats layouts, will also be put up against it. Hyundai’s new SUV is reported to see a release in May, 2021.
