All-New Mahindra Scorpio In Production Avatar Looks Bigger, Bolder

Mahindra will launch two new SUVs – the next generation XUV500 and the next-gen Scorpio in the country this year. The new models have been caught testing numerous times, revealing design changes and interior. The all-new Mahindra Scorpio has been caught testing in Chennai by folks at We Guide Auto.

The spotted all-new Mahindra Scorpio was heavily camouflaged; however, it is visible that the SUV features production-ready body parts and panels. The new model will be significantly bigger and bolder than the existing model. Adding to it, the SUV retains the tall and rugged stance with masculine design, big Mahindra grille and long body.

The spy images also shows the production-ready grille of the all-new Mahindra Scorpio. The SUV features the same six-slat vertically stacked grille, flanked by conventional headlamps. The headlamp comes integrated with LED DRLs (Daytime Running Lamps). The SUV has a large bumper with massive air-dam to reduce the drag.

The all-new Mahindra Scorpio has long bonnet and raked windscreen. It gets massive wheel arches with plastic protectors for rugged look. The SUV is expected to feature 18-inch wheels. At the back, the new Scorpio gets side-opening tail-gate, all-new bumper and vertically stacked LED tail-lamps. The SUV gets roof rails, roof-integrated spoiler and extended rear overhangs. The new Scorpio will grow significantly, which will allow Mahindra to offer more space inside the cabin. The SUV could also get forward-facing third-row of seats.

The new-gen Mahindra Scorpio will also come equipped with a factory-fitted panoramic sunroof. The SUV will receive multi-coloured speedometer, touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, automatic AC, multi-functional steering wheel and others. The 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will be based on the modified version of the body-on-ladder frame. Called ZEN3 platform, this platform also underpins the new-gen Mahindra Thar.

Engine Specs

The all-new Mahindra Scorpio will be offered with petrol and diesel engine options. The petrol version will get the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, which is likely to produce around 152bhp. On the other hand, the diesel version will get the new 2.2-litre turbocharged engine which is expected to offer around 158bhp of power. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque convertor automatic. The SUV is also likely to get AWD or 4×4 option.
