Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 – Fresh Details Revealed

We have reported earlier that Royal Enfield aims to expand its 650cc motorcycle lineup with a few new models. One of them will be the Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 that’s reported to arrive towards the end of 2024. The report further states that the model will come with a new nameplate and won’t carry proper adventure motorcycle design elements. It could be offered in two variants – with alloy wheels and with wire-spokes – which are estimated to be priced from Rs 4 lakh onwards. While the former will be a sports tourer, the later will be introduced as adventure tourer.

Most of the design and styling elements of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 will be similar to the Himalayan. Though, minor changes will be made to it. The RE Himalayan 650 will come with the 19-inch front wheel instead of 21-inch unit. Its seat height and exhaust will be mounted slightly higher than the 411cc Himalayan. The bike will offer a decent ground clearance.

Braking system of the Himalayan 650 is reported to be better than its small displacement sibling. Features such as a TFT screen with Bluetooth connectivity, a one-level traction control system and multiple riding modes are likely to be on offer.

Powering the Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 is likely to be the same 648cc, air-cooled, parallel-twin SOHC engine that does duty in the RE Interceptor 650 and RE Continental GT 650. The fuel injected motor makes a top power of 47bhp and 52Nm of torque. It will be the brand’s third model to be built on the 650cc platform. Similar to the 650cc twins, the Himalayan 650 will have 6-speed gearbox with a slip assist clutch.

In other updates, the Chennai-based bikemaker might unveil an all-new 650cc cruiser motorcycle at the 2021 EICMA Show in Italy. It’s rumoured to be called – Royal Enfield Super Meteor. The new 650cc cruiser is likely to share its design bits with the KX concept and share its engine with the RE 650cc twins.
