Prices of the new MG Astor SUV were revealed earlier this month. Its official bookings have begun at a token sum of Rs 25,000, while its deliveries will start from 1st November 2021. The automaker has confirmed that the Astor’s first batch of 5,000 units have already been sold out in the country.
The SUV model lineup comes in five trims (Style, Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy) and three engine-gearbox combinations. Engine setup includes a 1.5L petrol naturally aspirated petrol engine with the 6-speed manual and 8-speed CVT automatic gearbox options and 1.3L turbo petrol with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

According to a leaked internal document, the MG Astor 1.5L petrol delivers a fuel economy of 14kmpl – 15kmpl with manual gearbox and 10kmpl-12kmpl with automatic transmission. The turbo petrol motor promises a mileage between 9kmpl-12kmpl. The leaked scan states that the mileage figures are based on internal testing in various conditions. The higher trims of the SUV have been packed with some advanced goodies including the level 2 ADAS, blind spot detection, a 360 degree surround view camera, a panoramic sunroof, rear cross traffic alert, lane change assist, rain sensing wipers, leather upholstery, tyre pressure monitoring system, 6 speakers audio system, iSmart connected car tech with over 80 features, 6-way power adjustable driver’s seat, adaptive cruiser control, automatic emergency braking and more.
Prices of the Astor petrol manual start from Rs 9.78 lakh and go up to Rs 13.98 lakh. Its petrol automatic variants cost between Rs 12.68 lakh – 17.38 lakh. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom. Compared to most of its rivals, the Astor is more affordable. In the mid-size SUV space, the new MG SUV takes directly on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Volkswagen Taigun and Skoda Kushaq.
