Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 Under Development – Report

Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 Launch

According to a latest media report, Royal Enfield might expand its 650cc motorcycle lineup in coming years. The Chennai-based bikemaker is working on RE Himalayan 650, which is reported to be under development at the brand’s UK-based technical centre. However, the model won’t go in testing phase anytime soon. The production-ready version of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 is likely to carry a new nameplate. Recently, the company trademarked multiple names for its upcoming products.

As of now, there is no official word on RE Himalayan 650 motorcycle. Even if the report turns out to be true, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 650 will be the brand’s third model to be designed on the 650cc platform. RE’s 650cc twins use a 648cc, air-cooled, parallel-twin, fuel-injected SOHC engine that pushes out power worth 47bhp and 52Nm of torque. For performing transmission duties, the cruiser motorcycles have a 6-speed gearbox with a slip-assist clutch.

The new model weighs 5 kgs more than its predecessor.
