It is no secret that Royal Enfield is working on an all-new 650cc cruiser motorcycle, which has already been caught testing multiple times on the Indian roads. A new report claims that the new cruiser is likely to be called the RE Super Meteor. The new cruiser will make global debut at the 2021 EICMA Show in Italy.
The Super Meteor name was earlier used by Royal Enfield for the American market in the early 50s. It will be the most expensive motorcycle from Royal Enfield in India. It will be launched as a premium cruiser, and will be positioned above the RE Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650.
It is expected that the new RE 650cc cruiser motorcycle is likely to share the design bits with the KX Concept. The motorcycle will feature a low-slung typical-cruiser like profile. It will have round headlamps along with large visor for wind protection, slender fuel tank and alloy wheels. The motorcycle will have longer wheelbase compared to the Continental GT and Interceptor 650. It will have split seats, a twin-pipe exhaust system, rounded tail-lamps and turn indicators, foward-set foot pegs and fatter rear fender.
The new RE Super Meteor is likely to come with a typical cruiser-like large 19-inch front wheel and 17-inch rear wheel with thick profile tyres. It will get USD front forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear. It will come with disc brakes, dual-channel ABS, slipper clutch with assist, a digital instrument console with tripper navigation, etc.
The new Royal Enfield Super Moto 650 cruiser will share the engine with the Interceptor/Continental GT 650. It is a 648cc, air-and oil-cooled, parallel-twin engine that churns out 47bhp of power and 52Nm of torque. This engine is paired to a 6-speed gearbox.
The company is yet to make an official announcement on the launch of the new RE 650cc cruiser bike; however, media reports suggest that the bike could go on sale in the first half of 2022.
