Renault Triber Scores 4 Stars In Global NCAP Crash Tests

The Renault Triber sub-4 meter MPV has scored an impressive 4 star safety rating in the adult occupant protection category in Global NCAP crash test. The new model was tested under the #SaferCarsForIndia campaign.

The Renault Triber has scored 4 star rating for adult occupants and three stars for child occupants in Global NCAP’s latest crash test. The MPV was tested in basic safety features with two airbags. The Triber showed significant improvements from previous Renault models tested by Global NCAP.

The Renault Triber has scored 11.62 points out of a possible 17 points in the adult protection category. In the Child occupant protection category, the Triber scored 27 points out of 49 points. The crash test results reveal that the Triber offers good protection to front passengers’ head and neck. Driver chest showed marginal protection and passenger chest showed adequate protection. Driver knees showed marginal protection as they could impact with dangerous structures behind the dashboard. Passenger knees showed good protection. However, the bodyshell of the Renault Triber was rated as unstable and it was not capable of withstanding further loadings. Footwell area was rated as stable. The Triber comes with standard seatbelt reminders for driver and passenger.

The Child seat for the 3 year old was installed forward facing with adult seatbelts. It was not able to prevent excessive forward movement during the impact. The chest protection was average and the head protection was found lower as it was exposed during the crash. The Renault Triber is fitted with a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that produces 72bhp of power and 96Nm of torque. A 5-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels come as standard. In India, it is also offered with a 5-speed AMT gearbox.
