Renault Kwid Crosses 4 Lakh Sales Milestone in India

The Renault Kwid has driven past the 4,00,000 unit sales mark in the country. Launched in 2015, the hatchback was initially favoured for its compact SUV-ish design and affordability. The model received its first mid-life update in October 2019, followed by its BS6 version in January 2020. Recently, the automaker made dual airbags as standard fitment across the Kwid model lineup. Besides this, the company introduced a new dual-tone (White with Black roof) paint scheme on the Kwid Climber Edition. The model also gets electric ORVMs and day and night IRVMs. At present, the Renault Kwid is available in 10 variants spread across four trims – RXE, RXL, RXT, RXT (O). There are four Climber variants – 1.0L MT (O), 1.0L MT DT, 1.0L AMT (O) and 1.0L AMT (O) DT – priced at Rs 5.16 lakh, Rs 5.19 lakh, Rs 5.56 lakh and Rs 5.59 lakh respectively.

The hatchback’s entry-level RXE variant costs Rs 4.11 lakh and the top-end Climber 1.0L AMT (O) DT has been priced at Rs 5.59 lakh. Buyers have four automatic variants to choose from, which have been priced between Rs 4.98 lakh – Rs 5.59 lakh. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom.

The Renault Kwid is being offered with two engine options – 0.8L, 3-cylinder petrol and 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol. While the former makes 54bhp with 72Nm, the latter is good for 68bhp and 91Nm. Features such as an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a rear seat armrest, and rear parking camera are reserved for the top-end variant. Its standard safety kit includes dual airbags, seatbelt reminder, ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution), speed alert system and rear sensors.
