2021 Renault Kwid Electric Unveiled; Offers Range Up To 295km

The new Dacia Spring Electric (2021 Renault Kwid Electric) has been unveiled for the European market. Official pre-bookings will be commenced in spring 2021. Initially, the small electric hatchback will be made available for the car sharing services, followed by retail sales for private customers. It will be the most affordable electric car in Europe. Powertrain of the new Kwid electric includes an electric motor and a 28.6kWh battery pack. The former produces 44bhp and 125Nm of torque. The electric hatchback offers a range of 225 as per WLTP driving cycle and 295km as per WLTP city cycle. It’s capable to attain a top speed of 125kmph. In ECO mode, the vehicle delivers power worth 31bhp and 100kmph of top speed.

The new Kwid electric battery pack can be fully charged in less than 14 hours via a 2.3kW household socket and 8 hours 30 minutes via a 3.7 kW wallbox and 5 hours via 7.4 kW wallbox. It can also be charged up to 80% via a 30 kW DC terminal. The small electric car supports AC (up to 6.6 kW) and DC (up to 30 kW) charging. Visually, the 2021 Renault Kwid Electric (Dacia Spring Electric) looks similar to the ICE model. Though, the revised front grille with movable panel, automatic LED headlamps, rear lights with Dacia Y-shaped lighting feature and Orange treatment on the mirrors, front grille and roof bars mark distinction to its portfolio.

The electric hatchback offers decent cabin space for four adult occupants and a boot space of 300 litres. The list of features also includes a 3.5-inch digital display, media nav multimedia (optional), a 7-inch touchscreen with sat nav, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, DAB radio, voice control and Bluetooth connectivity. The overall length, width and height of the new Kwid electric stand at 3734mm, 1770mm and 1516mm respectively. It sits on a 2423mm long wheelbase and stands on 150mm of ground clearance.
