Renault Kiger Production Starts; Launch In March 2021

Renault Kiger’s mass production has been commenced at the brand’s Chennai based facility. The carmaker has already started dispatching the vehicle to its dealerships across the nation. The new Renault compact SUV will see a market launch in March, 2021.

In fact, select Renault dealers have started taking pre-orders for the vehicle at an initial sum ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000. Prices of the Kiger are expected to start from Rs 5 lakh that will make it more affordable than the Nissan Magnite that currently costs from Rs 5.49 lakh (ex-showroom).

The carmaker recently took the covers off its production-ready model that retains most of its design bits from the concept. It features a winged grille, aggressive front bumper, tri-beam LED projector headlamps with split setup, horizontally placed LED DRLs and a sculpted bonnet at the front end. The side profile has been adorned by flared wheel arches with dual-tone diamond cut alloys, a floating roofline, roof rails and a shark-fin antenna. The new Renault compact SUV offers an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Some of its other key features include a 7.0-inch fully digital TFT instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, automatic climate control, steering mounted controls and keyless entry.

The Renault Kiger will be made available in multiple paint schemes, namely, Moonlight Silver, Caspian Blue and Mahogany Brown, Ice Cool White and Planet Grey. Similar to the Nissan Magnite, the Renault Kiger will come with the 1.0L naturally aspirated petrol (71bhp/96Nm) and 2.0L turbo petrol (99bhp/160Nm) engine options. A 5-speed manual gearbox will be standard across the model lineup. While the naturally aspirated motor will get an optional 5-speed AMT unit, the turbo petrol unit will be available with a CVT automatic gearbox.
