2021 Mahindra XUV500 High-Speed Test (150kmph) – Video

A latest spy video of the new-generation Mahindra XUV500 shows its high-speed capabilities. Recently, the SUV’s test mule was caught on camera during its test run on highways. It was running at a speed of 150kmph. The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will be made available with the new 2.0L mStallion turbo petrol and 2.2L turbo diesel engine options. While the gasoline unit will be good enough for 190bhp and 380Nm, the oil burner will deliver 185bhp and 380Nm.

Mahindra XUV500’s new 2.0L mStallion petrol engine will be the brand’s most powerful engine till date. Compared to its arch rivals – MG Hector Plus and the upcoming Tata Safari, the new XUV500 will be more powerful. The MG Hector Plus comes with 143bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol and 170bhp, 2.0L diesel engines and the new Safari will be available with the Harrier’s 170bhp, 2.0L diesel motor.

Mahindra’s new SUV will be offered with both 6-speed manual and automatic gearboxes. As per latest media reports, the carmaker might also introduce a mild hybrid technology on the XUV500 model lineup at a later stage. The new mild hybrid system will comply with the upcoming CAFA (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) and RDE (Real Driving Emission) emission standards. The new norms will be implemented from 2022.

In terms of features, the 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will be more loaded than its rivals. Reports suggest that the SUV’s second-generation model will first vehicle in its segment to offer Level 1 autonomous technology – (ADAS – Advanced Driver Assistance System). It includes features such as blindspot detection, adaptive cruise control, drowsiness detection, autonomous emergency braking and lane-keep assist.

The carmaker will also equip the new XUV500 with radar system, 3D panoramic vision for drivers, eyelid tracking mechanism, autonomous parking system and Mercedes-like single-piece touchscreen display (for both infotainment system and instrument panel). Significant design changes will also be made to the SUV.
