Ready For Launch CNG Cars Revealed – Maruti, Tata

India’s two largest passenger vehicle maker, Maruti Suzuki and Tata Motors showcased their upcoming CNG models at Auto Expo 2023. While the Indo-Japanese automaker unveil the Brezza CNG, Tata revealed the CNG versions of the Altroz hatchback and Punch mini SUV. All three CNG cars will go on sale this year, however, their official launch dates are yet to be announced. Here’re some key details of the aforementioned new CNG cars.

Maruti Suzuki’s top-selling SUV will soon get the CNG variant in the country. The factory-fitted CNG kit is likely to be offered across the model lineup. It will come with the 1.5L K15C petrol engine and deliver power worth 88PS and 121.5Nm of torque. That means, it will be slightly less powerful and torquier than the regular model. The Maruti Brezza CNG will promise a mileage of 27km/kg. However, its boot space will be significantly compromised. More details here…

Tata Altroz CNG

Tata Altroz CNG

The Tata Altroz CNG will be made available with the 1.2L, 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine paired to twin-cylinder iCNG kit. In CNG mode, the setup will return a maximum power of 77bhp and 97Nm of torque. It has a fuel tank capacity of 37-litres and CNG capacity of 60-litres. Interestingly, the iCNG tanks are placed below the luggage carpeting and above the rear floor, thus ensuring maximum boot space. The hatchback comes with a Single Advanced EUC and Direct State CNG. It also gets the modular fuel filter, auto switch between fuels and faster refulling. More details here…

The Tata Punch CNG uses a 1.2L Revotron petrol engine boosted with Dyna-pro technology. In CNG mode, it offers a peak power of 77bhp and 97Nm of torque. Similar to the Altroz CNG, the Punch has two CNG tanks with a total capacity of 60-litres. The CNG version of the mini SUV is claimed to deliver a fuel efficiency of over 25km/kg. In order to prevent leakage and thermal incidents, the carmaker has used an advanced material for its CNG tank. The model gets a micro switch. One must note that the factory-fitted CNG kit will be offered only on the Accomplished and Creative trims. More details here…
