Tata Altroz CNG, Punch CNG Unveiled – Key Features, Specs

Tata Motor’s pavilion at the Auto Expo 2023 has been graced with a range of electric vehicles (EVs) including Harrier EV, Sierra EV, Avinya EV concept. The carmaker also showcased the CNG version of its two popular models – Altroz hatchback and Punch mini SUV.

While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed launch details of the Tata Altroz CNG and Punch CNG, both are likely to go on sale sometime this year.

Tata Altroz CNG Launch

Tata Altroz CNG will be offered with the 1.2L turbocharged petrol engine paired to a factory-fitted CNG kit. There will be slight drop in power output (by 10bhp -15bhp) while running on CNG. The regular petrol unit makes a top power of 110bhp and 140Nm of torque. Though, it will be high on mileage than their standard petrol counterpart. The CNG hatchback will come with a 5-speed manual transmission.

Tata Punch CNG

The Tata Punch CNG version, which was caught testing last year, has finally made its public appearance. The model features the same 1.2L 3-cylinder Revotron engine. Though, there is marginal drop in power and torque. In the CNG mode, it will deliver power close to 70-75bhp and torque around 100Nm. Its mileage is expected to be around 30km/kg. Similar to the Altroz CNG, it will be made available with the manual gearbox only. Interior of the Punch CNG gets some sporty red accents here and there.

Tata Punch CNG Specs

The factory-fitted CNG kit is likely to be offered on the lower and mid-level variants. The mini SUV offers dual airbags, brake sway control, ABS with EBD, central locking, tilt adjustable steering, front power windows and 15-inch steel wheels as standard fitments. The mid-spec variant comes with a multi-functional steering wheel, audio system with 4-inch display & 4 speakers, remote key lock/unlock, power windows, powered ORVMs, USB charging socket, follow me home headlamps, etc. Once launched, the CNG powered Punch will go up against the Maruti WagonR and the Swift CNG.
