Launched on 6th November 2020, the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 cruiser motorcycle has been doing really well for the company. The model registered over 8,000 bookings in just 2 weeks of its arrival. The company managed to sell 7,031 units of the Meteor 350 in November 2020, thus making it the second best selling RE motorcycle. One must note that the sales of the cruiser bike were started from its price announcement day.
Designed on a completely new platform, the Meteor 350 comes in three variants – Fireball, Stellar and Supernova. While the entry-level Fireball variant costs Rs 1.76 lakh, the Stellar and fully-loaded Supernova are priced at Rs 1.81 lakh and Rs 1.90 lakh respectively.
For power, the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 uses a newly-developed, 394cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine benefited with fuel injection technology. The motor has been tuned for producing power worth 20.2bhp at 6,100rpm and 27Nm of torque at 4,000rpm. In order to improve the engine cooling, the bikemaker has fitted a oil circuit in the 2-valve had. Royal Enfield claims that the engine’s balancer shaft suppresses vibrations up to a great extent. The new RE 350 motorcycle sits on a new double-downtube cradle frame that’s said to be stiffer than the Thunderbird’s frame. Its suspension system includes a conventional 41mm telescopic fork with 130mm travel and twin shock absorbers with 6-step preload adjustment at the rear. For performing braking duties, there is a 300mm disc at the front and 270mm disc at the rear.
Design of the Meteor 350 looks similar to its predecessor – RE Thunderbird. Some of its key highlights include a round headlamp with a circular LED DRL, curved fenders, chunky fuel tank and pod-shaped taillamp. The bike has been equipped with features such as a new semi-digital instrument cluster and a colour TFT display called ‘Tipper screen.
