Toyota Fortuner, the premium 7-seater SUV from the Japanese carmaker, is ready to receive a mid-life update in January 2021. This time around, the company will also bring in the more premium version of the SUV called Toyota Fortuner Legender. The model was recently spotted undisguised during its TVS shoot in Bangalore. Compared to the regular model, the 2021 Toyota Fortuner Legender carries more aerodynamic and aggressive design elements.
Upfront, the SUV features a smaller black mesh grille, sharply-designed bi-projector LED headlamps with LED DRLs, revised bumper, different fog lamp housing, a larger intake and smaller skid plate. Unlike the standard model that comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, the premium Legender variant will be equipped with 20-inch alloys. It will also get the sequential LED turn indicators.
Some other key bits include blacked ORVMs, pillars and roof, chrome line under the window, newly-designed taillamps with LED bar, revised rear bumper and roof-integrated spoiler. Interior of the new Fortuner Legender will be slightly different from the regular model. It’s likely to receive dual-tone interior theme with more premium leather upholstery. The 2021 Toyota Fortuner Legender will have a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system instead of an 8.0-inch unit. The info system will support both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. With the mid-life update, the SUV might get some advanced features such as a 360 degree camera, wireless phone charger, radar guided cruise control, lane departure warning and more.
Powering the updated Fortuner and Fortuner Legender will be the same 2.8L V-GD diesel engine that might be tuned for generating extra power and torque. In its current state, it makes power worth 204bhp and 500Nm of torque. The standard trim will also be available with a 2.7L petrol engine. The Fortuner facelift will get a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, while a 6-speed automatic transmission will be reserved for the Legender. The latter one might also get a 4X4 drivetrian system with a low-range transfer case.
